Pay: $65 - $75 per hour + super
Hours: Full-time (38.0 hours per week)
About the team:
The People team is a multi-functional Human Resource (HR) team supporting our client/ the Agency to achieve its strategic objectives through the delivery of high-quality, client-focused HR services. As a small agency, the People team provides advice and support across a broad range of HR functions including:
- Pay, conditions and entitlements Recruitment
- Case management (including conduct, performance, and health case)
- Learning and development
- Diversity inclusion
- HR reporting and analytics
- Workforce planning and strategy
- Work health and safety
Responsibilities are divided across three sub-teams to ensure effective deliver of both strategic and operational HR services.
Key Responsibilities
The WHS & Wellbeing Advisor is responsible for a range of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Provide high-level, evidence-based advice to managers and staff on a broad range of operational and strategic WHS issues, including complex and sensitive matters, exercising sound judgement and professional discretion.
- Interpret, apply and provide guidance on Commonwealth WHS legislation, regulations and associated codes of practice to support organisational compliance and effective risk management.
- Lead the development, coordination and delivery of WHS projects and initiatives, including planning activities, managing competing priorities and contributing to continuous improvement outcomes.
- Support the development, implementation and review of the WHS and Wellbeing Strategy and the Psychosocial Risk Action Plan, including analysing risk data, advising on controls and monitoring effectiveness.
- Maintain oversight of the WHS Risk Register, including reviewing and updating risks and controls, analysing trends and providing advice on risk mitigation strategies
- Manage and support WHS incident and injury notifications and investigations, including conducting or overseeing root cause analysis and advising on corrective and preventative actions.
- Coordinate and deliver monthly wellbeing sessions and WHS awareness initiatives, engaging internal stakeholders and external providers to enhance workforce capability and wellbeing outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality WHS reports, briefs, dashboards and correspondence for Executive leadership and governance committees, providing clear analysis, insights and recommendations.
- Provide professional support and coordination to Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), and contribute to the development, review and continuous improvement of WHS policies, procedures, guidance material and intranet content, while building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders./;
Key Capabilities:
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying Commonwealth WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice to provide sound, practical and compliant advice in a complex operating environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide timely, well-reasoned advice to managers and staff on operational and strategic WHS matters, including complex or sensitive issues, exercising professional judgement appropriate to an APS 6 role
- Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating and delivering WHS or wellbeing projects and initiatives, including managing competing priorities, engaging stakeholders and contributing to continuous improvement outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience managing WHS risks and incident responses, including maintaining risk registers, supporting psychosocial risk management, coordinating incident notifications and investigations, conducting root cause analysis, and supporting corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to WHS strategies, policies, procedures and guidance materials, and to prepare high-quality reports, briefs and dashboards for senior leadership and governance forums, while building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional information
- We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated WHS experience, particularly in managing and maintaining WHS risk registers and reviewing and updating WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Qualifications:
- Qualifications in Human Resources, WHS or other relevant disciplines highly desirable
